Dorothy Beatrice is ready to take on her very first winter. This was a knit that I simply couldn't resist.
A special thanks to Judith Swartz for her lovely Icelandic pattern as published in "Dogs in Knits" .
Home; the wood stove is fired, the slow cooker is steaming, Dorothy has her hand-knit sweater and winter  begins.

One of my favorite months for all of it's magnificent color.
October happens to be THE perfect month for dye pots. October also denotes
change. There's change in the air and I must admit, I find it quite exhilarating. I am excited about all that is new around London Wul. A new learning space, new classes and workshops. NEW FABRICS, oh my gosh I'm so excited about our new fabrics. Lots of new ideas too, for this blog space, for new projects and play dates for which you are all invited!
Yes I do love October.

Rubbings

... so, this weekend I decided to make a large rubbing that I will eventually cut into bits and pieces for cloth collage. I first pinned a large piece of heavy lace fabric to my work surface.
I layered this with a silver piece of chiffon over which I rubbed using oil paint sticks.
.... leaving me with lots and lots of yardage to cut and paste!

Story Board

...the beginnings of a quilt.
Nowhere near the finish, just some thoughts.
My challenge was to use the phrase "three things".
A great way to launch some ideas!
Give it a try.

Dye Garden

My Dyers broom (dyers greenwood), neglected but thriving.
This will yield a lovely yellow dye, using alum as a mordant.
..we'll wait until Fall for that task.
